Chapter 01

WHAT IS BITCOIN MINING?

Every 10 minutes, thousands of computers race to solve one cryptographic puzzle. The winner earns the block reward. That winner could be you.

  • Transactions Broadcast

Bitcoin users broadcast transactions to the global network. Miners collect these into a candidate block — a batch of transactions waiting to be confirmed forever.

  • SHA-256 Hashing Begins

Your miner starts guessing a number called a nonce — over and over, trillions of times per second — passing each guess through the SHA-256 cryptographic function.

  • Target Threshold

A valid hash must fall below the network's current difficulty target — a number so precise it begins with many zeros. The network adjusts this every two weeks to maintain a 10-minute block time.

  • Block Found — Reward Claimed

The first miner to find a valid hash broadcasts it to the network. All other nodes verify it instantly. The winning miner receives 3.125 BTC plus all transaction fees in the block — directly to their wallet.

Chapter 02

SOLO VS POOL MINING

Two strategies. One goal. Understanding the difference determines what kind of miner you want to be.

  • Recommended

    Solo Mining

✦ Keep 100% of the block reward
3.125 BTC + all transaction fees — no split, no middleman

    ✦ Strengthen Bitcoin decentralization
Your hashrate competes independently — not absorbed into a mega-pool

✦ No KYC. No account. No trust required
Point your miner at a solo pool with just your Bitcoin address
    ✦Low-probability, life-changing upside
Compact home miners have won $258K–$348K blocks in 2025

    ✦Electricity cost: cents per month
    The Ticket: ~$0.01/mo. NerdQaxe++: ~$0.90/mo.

  • Alternative

    Pool Mining

    ○ Share the reward with thousands of others
Your payout = your % of pool hashrate × block reward
    ○ Contributes to pool centralization
Top pools control 70%+ of global hashrate in 2026
    ○ Requires registration, fees, and trust
1–2% fees, account required, custodial risk
    ○ Small, consistent micro-payouts
~$0.06/day per TH/s — fractions of a cent at small hashrates
    ○ Our devices are pool-compatible
But solo mining is what they're built for

SETUP IN 5 MINUTES

No command line. No soldering. No downloads. Every Miami Bitcoin NerdMiner device is pre-flashed and ready to mine.

Power On
Connect your power supply. Bitaxe and NerdQaxe++ units use 12V DC. Lottery miners (The Ticket, The Edgewater) plug into any USB-C phone charger. The display lights up within seconds.
Connect to Device Hotspot
Your miner broadcasts its own temporary Wi-Fi network. Connect to it from your phone or laptop.
// Bitaxe & NerdQaxe++ Network: AxeOS or Bitaxe_XXXXXX // Lottery Miners (Ticket / Edgewater) Network: NerdMinerAP Password: MineYourCoins
Open the Dashboard
Open your browser. The setup page loads automatically, or navigate to the IP shown on your device screen.
// AxeOS Dashboard http://192.168.4.1
Enter Your Home Wi-Fi
Type your home Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password. Your miner only works on 2.4 GHz networks — not 5 GHz. Save and allow the device to reboot.
Find Your Device on the Network
After reboot, the display shows your device's local IP address. Type it into your browser to open the full AxeOS dashboard.
Choose Your Mining Pool
In Settings, enter your solo mining pool. We recommend one of these two — both are free, reputable, and require no registration.
// Option 1 — Public Pool (0% fee) public-pool.io:21496 // Option 2 — Solo CKPool (2% fee) solo.ckpool.org:3333
Enter Your Bitcoin Wallet Address
In the Stratum User / Worker field, enter your Bitcoin on-chain wallet address. This is where your block reward is sent if you find a block. Never use an exchange deposit address — use a wallet you control (BlueWallet, Sparrow, hardware wallet).
Save and Start Mining
Click Save. Your miner reboots and begins hashing. The display shows live hashrate, pool connection status, ASIC temperature, and your best difficulty found. You are now participating in the Bitcoin network.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Every question we get. Answered without spin.

Collapsible content

What are my real odds of finding a block?

The odds depend on your hashrate relative to the total network hashrate — currently over 1,000 EH/s (exahashes). A Bitaxe Gamma at 1.2 TH/s has roughly 1 in 850,000 odds per day. A NerdQaxe++ Rev6.1 at 6 TH/s improves that to roughly 1 in 170,000 per day. These are lottery odds — low, but real. On March 10, 2025, a device at 480 GH/s (less powerful than a Bitaxe Gamma) found a full block worth $258,000. Network difficulty adjusts every two weeks and changes your odds accordingly.

How much electricity does it use?

Very little. The Ticket runs on ~0.5 watts — about $0.01/month in electricity at US average rates. The Bitaxe Gamma draws ~18 watts (~$0.75/month). The NerdQaxe++ Rev6.1 at stock draws ~70 watts (~$3/month). The NerdOCTaxe at 160 watts costs roughly $7/month to run continuously. For reference, a gaming PC uses 300–600 watts. These are desk appliances, not power plants.

What wallet should I use?

Use a non-custodial, on-chain Bitcoin wallet, one where you hold your own private keys. There are two main types to understand: Hot Wallets are software-based wallets connected to the internet (mobile or desktop apps). They’re convenient for everyday use but carry more exposure to online threats. Cold Wallets are offline hardware devices that store your keys completely disconnected from the internet. They offer the highest level of security for long-term storage. Miami Bitcoin NerdMiner encourages you to do your own research and due diligence to find the wallet that best fits your security needs and comfort level. What matters most is that you control your keys, if you don’t hold your keys, you don’t hold your Bitcoin. Miami Bitcoin NerdMiner strongly advises against pointing your miner to an exchange deposit address (Coinbase, Kraken, etc.). Many exchanges will not credit a solo block reward, and you risk permanently losing your payout.

Can I mine with multiple devices at once?

Yes. All devices point to the same Bitcoin wallet address. Your combined hashrate increases your odds proportionally. A common setup is pairing a Bitaxe Gamma with a NerdQaxe++ — the Gamma running on one desk, the NerdQaxe++ on another, both mining to the same wallet 24/7. Running multiple devices on the same pool lets you see their combined contribution in the pool's dashboard. The more devices you run, the more lottery tickets you buy every second.
